Welcome
Congratulations on your election as a new Georgia county commissioner! You are commended for answering the call to public service and your willingness to take on this important leadership role in your community.
The Carl Vinson Institute of Government at the University of Georgia and ACCG, Georgia’s county association, work with county officials like you every day by providing training and certification programs, technical assistance, meeting facilitation, retreat planning and a wide range of other services that are specialized to each organization. We look forward to becoming a valued resource and helping you throughout your tenure as a county commissioner.
The Newly Elected Commissioners Conference is designed to help prepare you to take office. By attending this conference, you will not only learn critical information about your roles and responsibilities as an elected official and an overview of how county government works – you will also begin to build an important network of county commissioner contacts with whom you can share ideas and compare experiences. While the Newly Elected Commissioners Conference is required by state law, we hope that you will look back on this experience as an important first step in your transition from candidate to commissioner.
Please use this website to learn more about the Newly Elected Commissioners Conference. All items in the agenda will be live at the start of the conference so that you may follow along on your iPad or tablet. We also encourage your to download the conference app on your iPhone or Android.
